Inauguration Ceremony of the first Laboratory on Blue Economy

On May 31st, 2023, it was inaugurated at Kindergarten no. 58 from Constanța, the first STEM Laboratory for the promotion of Blue Economy called the Blue Laboratory.

The Laboratory concept was defined based on the activities carried out within the Black Sea CONNECT Project - Coordination of Marine and Maritime Research and Innovation in the Black Sea, a project funded by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 Program, Contract no. 860055.

In this way, based on the partnership established between the Romanian National Secretariat of the Black Sea Universities Network and the Constanța County School Inspectorate, a consultation process was carried out with the teaching staff from the entire school network subordinated to the Inspectorate. There were organized different activities, such as workshops in high schools, gymnasiums and universities. Specialists from the BS Connect Project Consortium, from the European Network of Blue Schools, as well as professors and researchers from the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and the Department for Teaching Staff Training from the "Ovidius" University of Constanța were involved. In order to test the procedures and subsequently validate and standardize them, there were organized pilot activities, open lessons, caravans, hackathons and other similar activities.

On May 31st, it was organized model lesson with the participation of a team of children who were involved in nature observation activities and laboratory works, in order to test the teaching methods. The activity was also available in an online format and was transmitted throughout the network of kindergartens subordinated to Constanța Inspectorate.

The inauguration of the Laboratory was attended by H.E. Mr. Emre YURDAKUL, General Consul of the Republic of Türkiye in Constanta.

The activity was preceded on May 29 and 30, by two expedition-type models at the Microreservation in Constanța and on the seashore and at the Fishery in the Mamaia area.
