The visit of Prof. Eden Mamut, BSUN Secretary General to the Premises of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation

On February 13th, 2023, Prof. Eden Mamut, Secretary General of the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN), had a meeting with H.E. Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

The meeting was organized with the occasion of the participation to the Working Meeting within ARSINOE - Climate-Resilient Regions Through Systemic Solutions and Innovations Project, which took place between the 13th and 14th of February, 2023, in Istanbul.

During the meeting with H.E. Ambassador Comanescu, there were presented the activities developed by BSUN and the concerns related to the current problems faced by the Higher Education sector in the Black Sea region.

Following the discussions, two collaboration initiatives between BSUN and BSEC were outlined:

- The initiation of a platform for cooperation regarding the use of advanced methods for analysis of various aspects in the field of Economics, Sustainable Development and the impact of climate change on the economies of the countries from the Black Sea region. The collaboration is intended to be carried out on the basis of an institutional partnership between BSUN and the BSEC Working Group for the Exchange of Statistical Data and Economic Information. The parties have agreed on a calendar and on the required actions to initiate this collaboration;

- The promotion of the BSUN initiative for relaunching the dialogue and cooperation in the Black Sea region based on the Resolution of the BSUN Congress that took place in October 2022, in Bucharest. In order to adopt a concreate plan of action, Ambassador Comanescu accepted the invitation to participate to the future session of the BSUN Executive Board Meeting which will be organized in April, 2023, in Istanbul.
